How to complete Pokemon Go New Years Event 2025

Pokemon Go kicks off 2025 with its annual New Year eventbringing new and returning features and bonuses from years past. Like others hosted in the past, the 2025 New Year's event will feature several costumed Pokémon, giving you plenty of opportunities to catch them.

This year's New Year's event will be available for three days from Monday 30 December 2024 at 10:00 local time to Wednesday 1 January 2025 at 20:00 local time. Our full guide to the event can be found below, including tips and advice on how to make the most of this relatively short event.

Action bonus

The 2025 New Year event will have only one bonus that will be available to all players who play during the three days of the event. During the event window, you get 2,025 XP every time you catch a pokemon with an excellent throw.

You can use Lucky egg item to increase the XP you get from this.

Using this item will double the XP you get in 30 minutes.

Wild Encounter Pokémon event

there will be three event themed Pokemon appearing in the wild during the event window, all in costume. In addition, they will have three main Pokemon for this event increased chance of shine.

These three event-themed Pokémon include:

• Hoothoot wearing New Year's clothes
• Jigglypuff wearing a ribbon
• Wurmple wears a party hat

Event Raid Pokemon

It will too event-themed costumed Pokemon that appear in both one-star and three-star raids. Similar to the wild Pokemon encounter, these raids will have event themed Pokemon increased chance of being shiny when they encounter after completing their raid.

Event research

Free timed research

All players will have access Timed research free for this event. Completing the tasks that are part of this timed research will reward you event themed Pokémon and Stardust encounters.

Paid timed research

You will also be able to purchase additional timed research for a price for this event $2.00 in the Pokemon Go game store. Completing tasks from this timed research will reward you with:

• 2,025 Stardust
• Three lucky eggs
• Three premium battle passes
• Event themed Pokemon gatherings

Field research tasks

It will too Field research tasks available to pick up from the various PokeStops you visit and spin. Completing the tasks required for these field research tasks will reward you various event-themed Pokémon encounters.
