How to complete the Sekhem process
The trial of Shechem v Path of Exile 2 is an offshoot of the Sanctum activities from the first game. It's a decent source of loot in the endgame, but it can be challenging to complete in the beginning, especially for players who aren't strong enough.
Completing the Trial of the Sekhemas is not necessarily part of the main quests and feats PoE 2but it plays an important role in early character development and is also a decent source of loot if you manage to get enough power. Here's a quick guide containing some of the most important things you need to know about it.

The King in the Mists is a miniboss that players will face in Freythorn in Path of Exile 2. Defeating him is the best way to get +30 Spirit in Act 1.
How to unlock Trial of the Sekhemas in Path of Exile 2
To unlock this activity, you will need to defeat Balbala the Traitor, the boss hidden in the Traitor's Passage in Act 2. She can be an annoying enemy to fight early on due to her fast, hard attacks, but once you take her down she goes down Balbal's Baryathe basic item you'll need for your first Trial of the Sekhemas run.
After defeating Balbala PoE 2travel to the Trial of the Sekhemas location from the Ardura road map (or teleport there via a Waypoint) and you'll arrive at a ruined temple of sorts. Balbala will not be waiting for you there as an enemy, but as a mentor. Place Balbal's Barya in the Relic Altar to begin your run.
Balbal's Barya is consumed after your first successful run. If you want to try again, you need to find the Djinn Baryas that drop randomly.
How to complete the Sekhem process
Trial of the Sekhemas puts players in the game a gauntlet consisting of seven roomswith the last one is a boss fight. Each of the first six rooms has different objectives as well as rewards or punishments. After completing your current one, you can choose which room to enter next, and you'll often have two different rooms to choose from. Complete all encounters and enter the reward room where treasure chests await.
All the encounters here are simple and the objectives are written in your quest journal. Either survive the encounter, kill the monsters, or get to the end of the current room to continue. Repeat until you reach the final boss. There are no time limits, but you may want to find ways to increase your damage output or movement speed PoE 2 if you want to quit as fast as possible.
Tips
-
You can ignore enemies in Gauntlet encounters where you have to run through traps and pull levers.
-
Likewise, in hourglass (survival) encounters, you can kite enemies without having to kill them all.
-
Choose room modifiers wisely.
-
You can end the trial by creating a city portal.
-
Make sure to pick up the holy water that drops from the enemies.
-
Equip with mobility skills and use your Dodge Roll often.
Honor level
After entering the trial version, you will notice a white bar in the middle of the screen. This represents your current Honor level – Honor is basically a second health meter that is only active during Trial of the Sekhemas. Honor is lost when an enemy hits you, and how much honor you lose depends on how strong the attack received was. If you lose all your honor, you will fail the test (you also fail if you lose all your life).
Honor can be can only be recovered in rooms that contain a fountain specifically designed to restore Honor. These are quite rare and you usually have to spend holy water to heal. Because of this, you must avoid being hit at all costs.
Rewards
During the trial, you can find keys to various rarities as random drops or encounter rewards. These keys are used to open chests in the reward room after the final boss fight. This room also contains a statue that gives you your first Ascendance points PoE 2.
Future Trial of the Sekhemas runs won't reward you with any additional Ascendancy points, but you'll still be able to farm activity for loot. Once you get to the end, the exam becomes significantly harder (and rewarding).
