It is claimed that God Of War will star Faye as Tyr

More details about the next God of War game are being reported, now shedding light on what mythology it might explore.

According to MP1st, the next God of War game is a spin-off that will indeed feature Faye as the main playable character. It is also claimed that Tyr will be part of the story, possibly as a playable character just like Faye, and that the story will explore both Chinese and Japanese mythologies.

New details have been revealed about the God Of War spin-off

“We here at MP1st can confirm that East Asian mythologies will be part of it, as we have heard that elements from Chinese and Japanese mythologies will be part of the new entry in the series,” reads the latest report. “That being said, game development is a fickle thing and as such things are always subject to change, although we expect them to be present in the final version of the title.”

MP1st also points to a previous leaker who first claimed a new God of War game as early as 2023. He claims there will be two playable characters, possibly Faye and Tyr.

If there is any truth to these claims, then we may soon find out. Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming has already claimed that the next God of War game will be announced this month, so it could only be a few days away.

Although the game will be announced soon, we might have to wait a while before we can actually play it. The only word we have on the release date is that it could be in the first half of 2027, so maybe a full year away. With that being said, it would be wise to keep such a huge release outside of GTA 6's release window. Sure, it would still sell well, but it would be left out of the conversation.

Faye appeared in God of War Ragnarok, played by Deborah Ann Woll, who will hopefully reprise her role in the rumored spin-off. Before that, Faye didn't appear, but she was a major part of God of War (2018) as it revolved around Kratos and Atreus bringing her ashes to the highest peak of the Nine Realms. So any Fay-led game would be a prequel, although it's unclear exactly when it would take place.
