The Elder Scrolls 6 is easily several years away from release and sure to pass January 1st with minimal, if any, fanfare. Unfortunately, this date is significant for later games in The Elder Scrolls franchise.
First, it is worth recalling when The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced. A perfect example of a game announced too soon, The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced with a 30-second trailer on June 10, 2018, at Bethesda's E3 press conference. Many things have happened since then, such as the death of E3, but not for The Elder Scrolls 6. Fans haven't even seen another trailer since then. However, Todd Howard recently expressed regret over the announcement TES6 so soon

The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Release Date – March 20, 2006

The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Release Date – November 11, 2011
On January 1, more time will pass in between Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls 6 than between Skyrim and Daggerfall. It may seem surprising, but Daggerfall issued on September 20, 1996 a Skyrim was November 11, 2011. This represents a period of 5530 days. 5530 days will pass from January 1st Skyrim's release, with every passing day that comparative gap widens. Redditors like Repulsive-Canary-772 are lamenting the upcoming date, though perhaps Bethesda could reward players for waiting with a trailer for now. Of course, it doesn't end there.
The OP also added that if The Elder Scrolls 6 won't release before June 29, 2029, which is a possibility, then more time would pass in between Skyrim and TES6 than Skyrim and Arena— March 25, 1994 game. In other words, the time between the fifth and sixth major The Elder Scrolls games could end longer than the time between the first and fifth games. As further context, more than 2,800 days have passed since then TES6 was announced at the time of writing and January 1st will be 3127 days.
The two key responses to Repulsive-Canary-772 present a dichotomy of what it means to be The Elder Scrolls fan. The first comment by AdhesivenessOK4334 is “No, that won't happen…it won't…” It's worth noting that this first comment has 581 comments, showing the hope many fans still have for the future of the Elder Scrolls franchise. It was followed by Any_Middle7774's comment: “Absolutely will.” The latter sits at 504, possibly representing a split between fans and when they think the next game will be released.
That's not to say there hasn't been any movement in the franchise. The fans are well aware of this Skyrim has been reissued several times and of course, Oblivion Remastered was released in 2025. That means fans are probably overdue for some movement The Elder Scrolls 6.
