Monster shooters, cozy RPGs, and other new releases on Steam you've been missing out on

Over the past week, approximately one billion new games debuted on Steam. Okay, that number might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it sure was. Since Valve's site is the place for PC games, both triple-A and indie, almost every new project gets launched on the platform and the train just never stops. When you're competing with dozens and dozens of other releases, there will always be some under the radar games which pass unnoticed except for a select few.

The week of June 8 it wasn't as packed with as many big names as usual, and the gaming world was primarily occupied with reveals and announcements rather than new releases. Still, some exciting indie games have hit Steam (or console) that deserve at least some attention.

This article aims to provide a curated list the best lesser-known Steam drops for the week of June 8-12just to shine a spotlight on them. I'm not saying you should run out and buy these games; however, if they seem interesting, you may want to explore them further.

“Under the radar” is also a vague term; let's say if a game exceeds 10,000 concurrent players on Steam, it doesn't qualify.

Voidling Bound

Minor Indie Steam Success Story of the Week

Let's start with a borderline example of a hidden gem that seems on the verge of exploding; Voidling BoundThe full release has been encouraging, currently averaging 7K players on Steam. While not unknown, the game is still the definition of niche and certainly hasn't exploded to the point of being a breakout hit (yet).

Top 10 Third Person Shooters of 2010, Ranked

2010 featured some of the most impressive and engaging third-person shooters of all time. Here are the best from this decade.

Developed by Hatchery Games, a team that includes people who worked on it before Skylanders and Border, Voidling Bound is a nostalgic genre mashup that combines monster summoning with third-person shooting and platforming. You are a Space Wrangler who must command an army of alien creatures (9 at start) before sending them into battle. The latter follows Risk of rain 2's formula to an extent, offering a variety of monsters that either prefer ranged or melee attacks. While not everything works perfectly, the game is chaotic, fast and challenging.

In addition to gameplay, Voidling BoundAnother highlight is its evolution system, which allows you to customize your creature's abilities and appearance. While there are technically only 9 voidlings currently in the game, they can be tweaked to create subspecies that have their own identity. Each creature also has a skill tree, so players can experiment even more to find something that works for them. That's really just the tip of the iceberg, because we haven't even gotten into gene splicing.

I personally really enjoyed my time with him Voidling Boundalthough I've only put a few hours into it so far (time is too fleeting). I love the art style and emphasis on platforming, while the monster raising/evolving/mutating element allows for some really broken builds (from what I've seen). Could some things be improved? maybe but i hope Voidling Bound it will have a long enough life to undergo its own evolution.

Beast

Farm, Raise, Cook And Puppet

Similar to something similar Dave the Driveror even Voidling Bound, BeastThe appeal of the film comes from its peculiar combination of genres. Cast as a chef named Panko in the town of Palo Pori, you must take over your master's restaurant after he disappears. During the day, Panko must collect and manage the crops, take care of his animals, and then prepare meals to feed everyone, especially the caretakers. The latter appear as adventurers of this world and need to go into battle with a full stomach.

Yet, Beast may seem like your average restaurant sim set in a fantasy world, but there's one thing that sets it apart from the crowd: turn-based deck-building combat. While Panko does not fight, the Nurses do, and upon their return, the cooks recount their escapades. These stories are presented as a puppet show and you take control of them. While not overly difficult or complex, the battle system provides a nice break from cooking.

Now, BeastThe 's optimization could use some work, with quite a few people reporting lag. While it may be worth waiting for an update before purchasing a copy on Steam, the game is available on Game Pass for anyone with a subscription.

Derailed! 2: Back on track

All aboard

After being on Steam Early Access, Derailed! 2: Back on track it finally reached the end of the line on June 11 and survived the journey without any derailment. Like the first game, Derailed! 2 revolves around rapidly building tracks to ensure the safe passage of an ever-moving train. You and your friends must work together to clear forests, mine resources, and build and lay tracks, all while the train moves forward forever. Although it offers solo play, this game is designed to be played cooperatively with a group of close friends who understand the importance of communication. Otherwise, prepare for disaster.

June 2026 all games free

All the free games you can claim in June 2026

Throughout June, Steam, the Epic Games Store, Amazon Prime Gaming and more will be giving away games for free. Don't miss any of them.

on the surface Derailed! 2 may not seem that different from its predecessor, at least when it comes to the basic gameplay loop. While this is true to an extent, the sequel features a progression system with permanent upgrades that effectively turns the game from roguelike to roguelite. The changes don't end there either Derailed! 2 features 4v4 versus mode, customization options, bosses and new types of biomes. It adds all of these things without losing any of the charm of the first game.

Surviving the trials

Bullet Heaven Supercharged

Part of Steam's Bullet Fest, Trial survivor comes as the next in an endless line of Bullet Heaven games to be born The surviving vampires'success. In June 2026, a new title in this genre needs to offer something a little unique to stand out from the crowd. Trial survivor it does this through its 3D presentation, absurd enemy density, and unlimited progression system.

To avoid misunderstandings, Trial survivor it entered Early Access on June 8th, so it's still a work in progress. By the standards set by these types of releases, the game has a relatively decent amount of content along with the replayability normally found in Bullet Heavens. Right now, you get 5 classes, nearly 100 spells, and plenty of relics that provide passive upgrades, along with a limitless leveling system that encourages you to constantly improve your build until you become an overpowered god of death. Although created by a team of two, Trial survivor is a technical marvel just for the sheer number of enemies on screen.

If you are not sure whether Trial survivor is for you, or if you're feeling burnt out on Bullet Heaven games, I recommend checking out the Steam demo quickly.
