New PS5 hardware officially revealed

PlayStation 5 and PC users can now pre-order the FlexStrike wireless controller, although the price of this dedicated controller is double that of the standard DualSense wireless controller. The new controller will hit store shelves on the same day as the PS5 fighting game.

The FlexStrike wireless fight stick was first revealed in June 2025 during the State of Play broadcast. It has a 40-hour battery life and can be connected to a PS5 console or PC using the included PlayStation Link USB adapter or USB-C cable. The included PlayStation Link USB adapter can be used to connect up to two FlexStrike controllers to a single wireless connection when plugged into a PS5 console.

The FlexStrike Wireless Fight Stick enters the ring on August 6th

Although the PS5 already supports fighting game pads like the Victrix Pro KO Leverless Fight Stick, Sony will soon bring its own first-party option to the arena. The PlayStation FlexStrike Wireless Fight Stick Controller is now available for pre-order on PlayStation Direct for $199.99 and is expected to ship on August 6th. The controller features a directional joystick, eight buttons that are mapped to traditional PlayStation inputs, and three limit gates that can be swapped around as needed. A square restrictor gate comes pre-installed with every FlexStrike controller, but users can also choose an octagonal or circular restrictor gate to suit their playing style. The joystick can also be modified to mimic the action of a D-Pad, left or right controller thanks to the slider located on top of the fight stick.

The Flexstrike wireless fighting stick has a built-in rechargeable battery that allows up to 40 hours of wireless play on a single charge. The battery can be recharged by connecting the controller to a PS5 console, computer or USB-C power adapter using the included USB-C cable. The FlexStrike also comes with a carrying case to safely store the controller and all necessary cables. The upcoming peripheral will launch on the same day as Marvel Tokon: Fighting Soulsa fighting game for the PS5 console by ArcSys and Sony. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will feature iconic heroes and villains from across Marvel Comics, including Doctor Doom, Spider-Man and Wolverine.

As one of the most anticipated fighting games of 2026, it remains to be seen how successful it will be Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will be on PS5 and PC. Sony will also release a PS5 gaming monitor on August 27. The monitor has a dedicated PlayStation Link USB-C port that makes it relatively easy to connect accessories like the FlexStrike.
