The PlayStation 5 Pro was released yesterday, ushering in a new era of computing power for the console. In some cases, observers were skeptical of the upgrades, saying that they couldn't really tell the difference between the Pro and the base PlayStation 5 for certain games. noticed the fact that they were playing on an upgraded console at all.”
However, the developer that has spent a lot of time upgrading their game for the PS5 Pro is Hello Games. Sean Murray outlined the PS5 Pro's No Man's Sky features, which include 30fps at 8k, ultra-quality reflections and improved lighting.
No Man's Sky looks beautiful on PS5 Pro
Hello Games is a smaller studio than many of the triple-A studios that have committed to upgrading their games for the PS5 Pro, which makes these technical feats even more impressive. No Man's Sky engine programmer Martin Griffiths talked about it in a post on social media, calling it a “tough gig.”
“I've spent about 4-5 months of my time spread over the last year working on PS5 Pro support,” he writes. “It's been a tough gig as we're one of the smallest teams releasing today and also one of the few games to support both 4K and 8K, just like PSVR2. I'm extremely proud to have played a part in this release today – I hope everyone you're enjoying it!”
Along with 8K resolution support, the latest update for No Man's Sky also added cross-save functionality and Mass Effect Normandy. This means you'll be able to save your game across multiple devices and, if you so choose, take on the role of Jeff “Joker” Moreau and pilot the Normandy SR-1 across the space scenery of No Man's Sky. The limited edition collaboration is originally from 2021, but has been renewed for N7 Day 2024.
