KYIV: Ukraine's gold medal-winning boxer Oleksandr Khyzhniak gave a military salute to a crowd gathered to celebrate his return to the war-torn country from the Paris Olympics. The 29-year-old Khyzhniak greeted fans, friends and family as he stepped off the special Olympic Express train at Kyiv Central Station. The athlete from Poltava is also a soldier of the Ukrainian border guard. He is the first gold medalist at the 2024 Olympics to bring the award to his home country.
