Pokemon GO announces June Super Mega Raid Day

A new Super Mega Raid Day event has been announced Pokemon Goand it will mark the game debut of Mega Skarmory. Skarmory is one of several Pokémon that received a new Mega Evolution Pokemon Legends: ZAwhich was released on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in 2025. Niantic is slowly adding some of these new Mega Evolutions to Pokemon Goincluding Mega Victreebel, Mega Dragonite and Mega Malamar.

Pokemon GoThe new season started on June 2 with the theme “Forever Forward”. The new season promises to add several new Mega Evolutions, including Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y. The addition of Mega Skarmory to the game was announced with the new season, but no details were given at the time. Mega Mewtwo X and Y will also be added to the game as part of Pokemon GO Fest 2026. The first in-person event has already taken place in Japan, but events in Chicago and Copenhagen will take place in the month of June, with a worldwide event for all players in July.

Pokemon Go players will have a chance to get Mega Skarmory during the Super Mega Raid Day event on Saturday, June 27th. The event will run from 14:00 to 17:00 local time and players can meet Shiny Skarmory during this time. Niantic will increase the Remote Raid limit to 20 from Friday, June 26 at 5:00 PM PT through Saturday, June 27 at 8:00 PM PT. This window should offer players a better chance of getting friends from different time zones to join them for the event. Pokemon GoSuper Mega Raids are a bit tougher, so having more people to play with is definitely a good thing.

Skarmory debuted in Pokemon Gold and Silverwhich were the first games to introduce Steel-types. Unlike some other Pokémon, Skarmory retains its typing after undergoing Mega Evolution and remains a Steel/Flying type. That means Pokemon Go strategies for standard Skarmory Raids will still work, and a good Fire or Electric Pokemon will be essential. However, since this is a Super Mega Raid, it will take a lot more players to win.

Shiny Skarmory will be easier to find during Super Mega Raid Day and might be worth tracking down. Skarmory gets a gold color scheme when it undergoes Mega Evolution. Shiny Skarmory is not that different from the standard coloring, with a different shade of silver and some green accents. However, this color scheme holds up as he goes through Mega Evolution, making him a fan favorite in the short time since Pokemon Legends: ZAedition. Players who would prefer Mega Skarmory, which has a color scheme closer to the classic Pokemon look, will want to invest effort in tracking down Shiny.
