In case you missed it, Pokemon is celebrating its massive 30th anniversary this year. This means that in addition to the usual roster of video games and trading cards, everyone and their mother has some sort of collaboration with the brand, often involving merchandise or collectibles.
Uniqlo kicked it off, resurrecting “Fat Pikachu” from the underworld for its collaboration, while Stern Pinball, maker of luxury pinball machines, makes some pretty high-end and expensive pinball cabinets.

Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen Going old school with local co-op shops that made me realize I only have online player friends
GameFreak is sending me down memory lane by making me beg for local Pokémon shops.
American retailer Target has just released its flagship collection, including everything from apparel to collectible cups to themed Pop-Tarts. Unfortunately, if you're reading this now, most of the “cool” stuff has sold out and, in the case of Pop-Tarts, is now being scalped on eBay.
Yes, you read that right. A box of Pop-Tarts is now suddenly an overpriced collector's item.
I hope you weren't planning on buying Pokemon Pop-Tarts
On Target's website, the limited edition Pokémon x Pop-Tarts treats were selling for $2.99. It has since sold out. Don't worry as most of the stock has naturally found its way onto eBay.
There's no shortage of Pop-Tarts boxes looking for a new home on eBay, albeit at prices that will make you smile.
One such person is trying to sell four boxes for $100 plus shipping. Another for $79.99.
Of course, not everyone is as unrealistic as these guys, with some listings for just $12.95 and free shipping. Low is generous considering they ended up selling for $2.99.
Which begs the question – what's the point? Let's say the person sells it for 12.95. They still have to factor in shipping and handling and gas and time to drop it off, and that's not even counting eBay fees, which are way higher than they used to be.
According to eBay's fee calculator, $12.95, with estimated shipping costs of just under $5, plus the original cost of the item of $2.99 and eBay's own cut, you're looking at a total profit of…$3.06.
I'm no mathematician, but that's not good.
What's more, they're just some regular Pop-Tarts with Pikachu on the packaging. There is literally, and I mean literally, nothing special about them. When Pokemon and Pop-Tarts first collaborated, the pastries had Pokemon-themed sprinkles.
Not these.
If this is the case with the Pop-Tarts collaboration, then I shudder to think of the state of affairs when Pokemon and Heinz Ketchup get together as teased.
