Sōō Zabimaru originally only had one fight to show his power. Renji's complete destruction of the Mask de Masculine. While this one battle was incredibly impressive to him. It only gave him a glimpse of what he could really do now that he knew his true name and was training in the royal palace. He demonstrated two main abilities; Hihiō and Zaga Teppō. These were used to quickly destroy the Quincy. Now in his new battle against Uryuu Renji, he shows what he can really do with his new found power.

Part of Sōō Zabimaru's cover transforms into a skeletal monkey arm, which Renji controls with his left arm. This allows him to use it as an extra limb to grab and thrash his enemies. This monkey arm is so strong that it can effortlessly crush bones and bypass its enemy with ease. Renji can power up and deliver a devastating monkey arm strike by projecting fire from a circular protrusion on his arm.

The part of the vertebrae that acts as a sort of belt transforms into a tail, while the Bankai blade transforms into a jagged whip similar to his Shikai. This allows Renji to use his blade in a very similar way to how his Shikai works.

In one of Renji's stronger attacks, he grabs part of the Orochiō Bankai with his monkey arm and spins it above his head, slowly creating a giant disc of spiritual energy. He then unleashes it on the opponent, causing a gigantic explosion that leaves a crater in place. This attack is so powerful that it must be spirit pressured for at least 20 seconds.


Thanks to this anime-original battle between Renji and Uryuu, fans now have a much better look at Renji's true Bankai, Sōō Zabimaru. The anime made sure to show the full extent of Renji's new power. Understanding his power is not mere speculation based on a single revelation, but rather a complete understanding of how incredibly powerful the Vice Captain of Squad 6 has now become.
