Saros releases patch notes for the new May 2026 update

Saros patch 01.004.003 released on May 19, 2026, aimed at fixing bugs and progression-blocking glitches. Since launching on April 30, Housemarque's Saros received four patches, all aimed at further optimizing the game and adding quality of life improvements.

One of the biggest Saros updates came on May 5, just a few days after launch. Added several new facilitation and optimization options, including new color categories and image previews, along with depth of field optimization. While this patch may not be as extensive, it still fixes some annoying issues that have plagued many fans.

Saros players need to learn as soon as possible what to prioritize in each run

Like many roguelike games, Saros will give players plenty of options between two upgrades, and knowing which to prioritize can completely change the run.

According to Housemarque, one of the main goals of the 01.004.003 update is to fix critical bugs. The focus was mainly on several errors that hinder progress. For example, an issue where players could get stuck outside of the Solar Cage in the Cathedral Atrium has been fixed, along with a bug in Ancient Depths that could prevent the Vault Gate from opening. The patch also includes fixes for Saros' weapons, including an issue where the Gun Control property did not work on the Onslaught rifle. Additionally, an issue that caused the Incapacitor to stop working properly after restarting the game has been fixed. Also fixed a bug where artifacts and weapon properties caused players to die during the Second Chance cinematic.

Saros is considered one of the best PS5 exclusives in terms of console optimization. However, it was not without performance issues. On the game's subreddit, dozens of fans have reported issues with in-game items not working or some mechanics blocking mission progress. Fortunately, Housemarque is actively addressing these issues and reducing them with each hotfix and patch. The game also receives minor visual and audio enhancements that enhance its cinematic feel. For example, the current update fixed several audio issues, while the previous patch fixed HDR peak output. With this change, players can now achieve a calibrated maximum brightness level on their devices.

Interestingly, one of the most requested supplements to Saros it has nothing to do with gameplay or development. A quick look at the fan comments below Housemarque's post about the update proves that one of the highly anticipated features for the Saros is actually a dedicated photo mode. Many players feel SarosThe world-building and sci-fi universe is as photogenic as its spiritual predecessor, Returnand deserves its own photo mode. Another oft-requested feature is a co-op mode, which, unlike a photo mode, would probably be much more difficult to implement, especially if it wasn't planned from the start.

It remains to be seen whether SarosFuture updates will introduce all major game modes or other quality of life features. What seems almost certain, however, is that Housemarque remains committed to addressing critical gameplay issues while continuing to improve the game's visual and audio performance, which has been a constant focus of its recent patches.

This is also worth noting Saros has been receiving rave reviews from PlayStation 5 users in recent days. The game currently has nearly 7,000 reviews on the PlayStation Store, with nearly 85% of them being five stars. The community is also actively promoting Saros and encourage other PlayStation 5 owners to try it out. All of this could potentially increase sales and ultimately lead to an even faster patch cadence from the developer.
