Star Rail shouldn't keep one element on the back burner for long

The current patch is less than halfway through and fans are already planning their moves Honkai: Star Rail Sunday and fugue version 2.7. Both supports are great for hypercarry/follow-up and break comps. While both are exciting releases, their element types are already quite common. Sunday shares Imaginary with nine other characters, while Fugue currently shares Fire with 10. Honkai: Star Rail could stand to make its overall roster more diverse, and it should start with Element, which seems to have been on the sidelines for almost a year now.

When a character's type matches an enemy's weakness Honkai: Star Raildeal hardness damage to that opponent. When a player depletes an enemy's toughness gauge, they deal an instance of breaking weakness damage and delay the enemy's action for at least one turn. Allied units will also deal slightly more damage to an enemy that is weakened. Some elements also have special effects such as damage over time and additional action delays. Therefore, it is in the best interest of the player to invest in units of different types.

This rumored Honkai: Star Rail feature could bode well for Astral Express

Rumor has it that a new feature coming to Honkai: Star Rail's Astral Express could be good news for fans looking for more things to do on the train.

Why Honkai: Star Rail Needs to Expand Its Ice Roster

The current number of characters of Ice v HSR is only eight, tied with Lightning and trailing only seven units of wind. The game already gave Wind and Lightning some love to Feixiao and Moze. As such, it is high time to do the same for the Ice. There are plenty of great reasons to give this cool feature the attention it deserves.

Ice's Limited DPS Units are rare

Ice has some useful 4 stars like Pela and Herta. However, it lacks a good 5 star, with the last limited version being Ruan Mei in version 1.6 almost a year ago. A new limited unit for this element type is long overdue, preferably DPS, as Ice's premier damage dealer Jingliu recently dropped out of the meta. Newer Destruction characters like Firefly and Yunli can consistently deal better damage than her with fewer compromises.

HSR they have yet to release a support unit that pairs perfectly with Jinglia such as Sparkle for Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae and Jiaoqiu for Acheron. If she doesn't plan to do so soon, she should add a successor to Jinglia with the new Ice DPS. With Hunt and Destruction characters already in this type, it only makes sense for the new damage dealer to follow the Path of Erudition. A 5-star Herta would fit perfectly into this category.

Ice's Weakness Break Mechanic is one of the best in the game

The best ways to gain an advantage in turn-based role-playing games like HSR is to make your characters act as much as possible, delay the enemy's actions as much as possible, or both. Ice characters are experts in the second category.

Ice units freeze enemies after breaking through their weakness. When an opponent is frozen, they cannot take any action for the duration of this turn. After being unfrozen on their next turn, they take additional ice damage and are still unable to act. However, their next move will be shifted by 50%.

It would be interesting to see how this weakness breaking effect is used by more modern characters. The new Ice DPS could deal massive damage or gain resources as extra energy when hitting Frozen opponents. Also interesting would be the ability to extend an enemy's Frozen state or reduce their unfreezing speed, like the slow Welt mechanic. Ice could even tackle damage over time (DOT) terrain by introducing a frost mechanic. The options are plentiful for this Element and it deserves to be back in the spotlight. Maybe Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 could bless Ice with some great new characters.
