Torso breach
Breaking the hull is the first thing the game teaches you about. Space lanes are occupied by other trucks and brands. Head outside the space lanes and there are all sorts of tiny debris to hit. Collisions will result in small hull breaks on the outside of your truck.
Periodically check the truck's status on the cockpit screens to keep track of damage. The Truck Status screen will show all violations and what percentage of your hull's integrity is. Your car will also look dirty and damaged if you fly in third person. Damage to the hull is very dangerous because it will lead to them oxygen leak from the cab of your truck. You run out of oxygen and get to the nearest station. You will then have to deal with a hefty recovery fee.
Once you receive hull cracks, you must manually repair them. Put on your spacesuit and exit the airlock. Your HUD will show you where the violations are. You'll need the power of the suit to repair each breach. The power of the suit is shown in the lights on the left side of the HUD when wearing the suit.
Upgrade Shops
Fixing small cracks will not fix the overall condition of your hull. For this you will need to visit the truck upgrade shop. There will usually be one per main station in every area.
Anchor in station upgrade and decide to repair your hull. This will be free until your car is out of warranty. Once it expires at 80,000 miles, you'll have to pay cash for the repair. You can also purchase upgrades to make your hull stronger and more resistant to damage.
