The 5 Weakest Super Saiyans, Ranked

Back in the early days Dragon Ball Zthe Super Saiyan form was a transformation of legend used only by the strongest Saiyan warriors as a powerful state unseen for thousands of years until Goku awakened it in the Namek Saga. By easily defeating Frieza, Goku showed exactly why the Super Saiyan form was so legendary.

Since then, it's fair to say that this beloved transformation has seen a decent decline in the story due to the many new forms that have come after it. Although SSJ1 is still remarkably powerful, not every user of this state is on par with Goku or Vegeta. In fact, some of Dragon Ball's Super Saiyans can hardly compete these days.

Cabba was the weakest universe 6 Saiyan

It wasn't much

Dragon Ball Super Shot Of Cabba As A Super Saiyan

Cabba was the first Saiyan from Universe 6 Dragon Ball Super when fans saw. Unlike the ones the fandom is used to, the Saiyans of Universe 6 have a much more peaceful nature and are not conquerors, but they are no weaker in comparison. Universe 6 Saiyans have a much higher base power level than their U7 counterparts.

Cabba proved to be a decent fighter in his battle against Vegeta and is even considered one of the greatest warriors in Universe 6. Despite a decent enough showing against Vegeta in the Tournament of Destroyers and later in the Tournament of Power, Super Saiyan Cabba felt more like an afterthought than anything else as he was just overpowered by most of the enemies he fought.

Caulifla was an amazing warrior from Universe 6

An up-and-coming fighter

Of all the Universe 6 characters that fought during the Tournament of Power, Caulifla may not be the strongest, but she definitely has the most potential. Before the tournament even started, she managed to unlock Super Saiyan just by listening to Cabbage's brief explanation about gathering power into a point in his back.

Aside from dealing with some enemies, Caulifla was nothing to write home about as a regular Super Saiyan as she was overpowered fairly early on, forcing her to rely on Super Saiyan Grade 2 and Super Saiyan 2 for the rest of her time in the tournament. This just shows her as a relatively weak user of the Super Saiyan form.

Teen Trunks and Goten still have a long way to go

Young warriors who fell away

Super Saiyan Goten and Super Saiyan Trunks

In the Super Hero arc, it was revealed that Trunks and Goten finally took a more active role in the fight, but they did so as Saiyaman X-1 and X-2. This showed that even though they were much stronger than anyone else on Earth, they were stifling their potential by neglecting their Saiyan abilities for the most part. In the movie version, they couldn't even turn Super Saiyan anymore.

While some may argue that they are stronger than Cabba, it should be noted that while the Universe 6 Saiyans are comparatively more docile than their Universe 7 counterparts, Cabba was still considered an elite warrior while Trunks and Goten mostly consider fighting as a hobby. Even though they have battled Broly, Gohan, Goku and Vegeta, they still have a long way to go with their Super Saiyan forms.

Baby trunks could be super saiyan at a young age

A powerful child, but barely

At the beginning of the Buu Saga, Vegeta (and other fans) were surprised when Trunks was shown going Super Saiyan at the age of 8. What was once a mythical transformation reserved for only the most powerful Saiyans in the universe was now a charge of a child who could use it quite effectively.

However, despite his amazing ability to use this transformation, Kid Trunks' Super Saiyan form was not particularly powerful due to his young age and lack of experience. He and Goten needed to team up with Gotenks to fight Majin Buu.

Kid Goten was the weakest Super Saiyan

The marginal power difference keeps him in the trunk

In the Buu Saga, the Super Saiyan transformation was seen in the hands of children who never faced even a fraction of adversity to awaken the form, such as Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta. Many believe that this was the beginning of the declining importance of transformations in Dragon Ball.

While Goten and Trunks are equal in the current setting of the series, during the Buu Saga the difference in their strength was quite noticeable, mainly due to Trunks being a year older than Goten. This was even mentioned when Goku was training the boys to do the Metamoran Fusion Dance when he told Trunks to lower his power to match Goten, making Kid Goten the weakest Super Saiyan user in the series.
