Arcana although it only lasted two seasons, it turned out to be one of the best-received video game adaptations to date. The series became a huge success on Netflix and combined both hardcore League of Legends fans and non-players alike. Although short lived Arcana is bittersweet, the series will hopefully serve as a blueprint for future animated game adaptations.
Now that Arcana is over, it will be interesting to see which games, if any, get a similar animated treatment. There are plenty of franchises that could deliver the same character-based intrigue as Arcanabut there is one series in particular that can be a shot at the same approach. Mortal Kombat boasts a lot of modifications, but it gets Arcana treatment may be just what the former needs to finally get a decent spin-off series.

A treasure trove of characters and lore

With a similar series Arcanait's easier to delve deeper into the dynamics of the characters and their stories, whereas movies only allow for a short amount of time. For a series as focused on characters as Mortal KombatMulti-episode seasons could finally give the fighting franchise the riveting adaptation it deserves. More importantly, however, a Mortal Kombat a spin-off needs the right team behind it.

Series creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee collaborated with French animation studio Fortiche to bring Arcana to life. While hypothetical Mortal Kombat the series may not be able to secure the same team as the franchise is owned by Warner Bros. and not affiliated with Netflix, producers and animators with a similar vision could potentially make an adaptation that's just as special.
With rumors to show for it Mortal Kombat 1 may be coming to an end sooner than expected, it's unclear what the franchise's next step might be. The next movie is planned for the second half of the year, but it's still a mystery.
