The strongest subordinate captains in the game Whitebeard Pirates

To this day, the Whitebeard Pirates are perhaps one of the most robust pirate crews to ever walk the world One piece. Their size seemed to require a total of 16 divisional commanders, each with control and responsibility for a portion of the garrison. Whitebeard's desire for family was evident as he accepted pirates from many different backgrounds and backgrounds to join his organization. This is further compounded by the existence of their many subordinate crews. As an orphan, Whitebeard wished to have his own family, which he found in his crew and by extension the subordinate crews that operated on his behalf.

These garrisons are often employed by the Emperor and act on behalf of their superior. Many subordinates made themselves known during the Summit War in an effort to save Ace at Marineford. Although they are supposed to have a relatively high level of power, with most if not all serving as the infamous pirates of the New World, they are heavily muscled due to the presence of many of the more prominent characters. Here are the captains of said crews who have shown impressive strength during their admittedly limited screen time.

5 Squard

Survive Roger

Whitebeard was stabbed by Squard

  • Debut: Chapter 551 (Manga), Episode 460 (Anime)

Squard is an experienced pirate from the days of Gol D. Roger, the infamous Pirate King himself. Although many pirates consider Roger a figure to look up to or at least match in terms of accomplishments, Squard's own experiences with the captain left him with a much more negative impression of Roger.

In an unseen fight against Roger, the captain is noted to have killed each of the former members of the Squard crew. Although surviving Roger is in itself, Squard's story didn't end there. He subsequently befriended Whitebeard, who took care of the pirate after this tragic incident. Squard later rebuilt his crew to serve under Whitebeard. Whitebeard saw Squard as a powerful figure in his own right, with him being the captain's first choice to lead the charge to rescue Ace.

Not every villain in One Piece stayed evil. Here are five villains who became heroes in different ways.

Unfortunately, Sakazuki tricked Squard by revealing that Ace was Roger's son, and lied that Whitebeard was planning to sacrifice his subordinates to save Ace. This led to him stabbing Whitebeard in the stomach. Squard regretted the act after realizing he had lied to him and begged Whitebeard's forgiveness. The captain hugged his 'son' and shrugged off the attack, claiming that it barely hurt him. However, Belobrad's primary confidant Marco seemed to think that even landing such an attack was his own success.

4 the Decalvan brothers

Duel of Dalmatians

Decalvan Brothers, two pirates, each with a stitched eye and clawed gloves.

  • Debut: Chapter 551 (Manga), Episode 460 (Anime)

The Decalvan Brothers are a pair of pirate captains who are believed to be twins. Their main weapon seems to be the two sets of clawed gloves that each brother has in battle. Their legs also seem to be of above average physical strength as they use them as a method of attack at certain points. They are never seen without each other, and that seems to extend to their fights as well.

One Piece: Devil Fruit users defeated without Devil Fruit

Despite their relative superiority as a skill, Devil Fruit users absolutely do not need another Devil Fruit user to ensure their defeat.

The anime shows him quickly forcing Vice Admiral Dalmatian into defense, even with his Zoan Devil Fruit intact. Vice admiral is the third highest rank a naval officer is capable of attaining, signifying a level of remarkable physical strength. The position rests only below Admirals and Fleet Admiral, which is the position currently occupied by Akainu.

3 At home

Momonga Duel

one piece at home

  • Debut: Chapter 551 (Manga), Episode 460 (Anime)

Back home, he was one of the many captains who worked for Whitebeard, proving to be a skilled swordsman. He had a pet monkey on his shoulder that turned out to be somehow adept at using a flintlock gun. At home, on his own, he proved to be a skilled enough swordsman to fight on par with Momonga, a vice admiral capable of killing a sea king. His monkey's flintlock gave him an added advantage, allowing him to effectively still attack even while holding his swords.

2 McGuy

Doberman Pinscher

Duel of Vice Admiral Doberman "Thunder Sword" McGuy, sparks are flying and the impact is visible

  • Debut: Chapter 551 (Manga), Episode 460 (Anime)

“Thunder Sword” McGuy was one of the most notable sub-captains seen in Marineford. Through unknown means, he was able to electrify his sword (in a manner with a passing resemblance to the Mink's use of electricity) in battle, living up to his nickname. He is shown to be roughly on par with Vice Admiral Dobrman during their duel, and more impressively, he has no additional outside help during the fight.

1 Little Oars Jr.

Against the giants

small oars jr one piece

  • Debut: Chapter 554 (Manga), Episode 463 (Anime)

There isn't much to this ancient giant, whose species average much larger than their more humanoid counterparts. He is the descendant (probably grandson) of Oars, a giant that Gecko Moria explored as a candidate for his mostly undead crew, the Thriller Bark Pirates. Little Oars Jr. himself. is perhaps the most prominent subordinate captain of the Whitebeard Pirates.

He was remarkably close to Ace, as the late pirate specially made him a Kasu (a special type of Japanese hat, made in Wano during One piece universe), despite his Devil Fruit powers incinerating his earlier attempts. For this he was especially grateful to Little Oars Jr., who was able to protect him from various forms of inclement weather. It is therefore no surprise that he was one of the main players in the concerted effort to save the pirate.

However, its size is not just for show. Little Oars Jr. was able to take on the giant Vice Admiral LaCroix, fight his way past the other giant vice admirals as they tried to stop him, and cut down an entire battleship with his greatsword. He has also survived attacks by the likes of Bartholomew Kuma, Donquijote Doflamingo, and Gecko Moria. Although the second attack caused him to collapse, even his unconscious body was shown to still be an asset as it damaged the siege wall he crashed into.

Upon awakening, he manages to break Whitebeard's ship through the barricade, allowing them to attack their enemies more successfully. However, he is quickly defeated by cannon fire, leaving his whereabouts, as well as whether he is even alive, unclear for now.
