TikTok itself has vehemently denied the allegations, but that didn't stop the case against it from reaching the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has reached a unanimous decision that the proposed ban on TikTok can go ahead. President Biden has indicated that his administration will not enforce the ban, and President-elect Trump has suggested that he might do something to keep the app online. Despite this, TikTok is no longer available in the US at the time of writing.

That hasn't happened, so it's unclear what resolution will be reached to reinstate the application, assuming Trump tries to do so. Meanwhile, angry TikTok users have found their own ways to protest the ban. There were personal protests, but users also started downloading Rednote en masse. Rednote is very similar to TikTok for insiders, but it is aimed directly at users in China.
