Tunisia reduces jail term for TV host

TUNIS: A Tunisian appeals court on Friday changed a television broadcaster's prison sentence from one year to eight months, his lawyer told AFP. Borhen Bssais was originally sentenced to 12 months under a decree that punished “spreading false information” and “slandering others or damaging their reputation”. “The Court of Appeal in the capital Tunis has decided to reduce Bssais' sentence from 12 months to eight,” said his lawyer Nizar Ayed.
