World of Warcraft may be trying to be more player-friendly, but the MMO still has one huge hurdle for new players to overcome.
However, it appears that Patch 11.1 will actually feature a preview of player housing, albeit to a limited extent. When racing through Undermine v World of Warcraft update, fans can find a wanted poster nailed over a rental sign that will lead them to the Barrelbottoms apartment complex. They then meet mum Keara, one of the flat's tenants, and uncover a plot in which Moz Barrelbottom, a “benevolent landlord”, pays a biker gang to attack locals so he can charge them a premium for his protection. After rescuing the captured tenants and defeating the gang, players will help Mama Kear defeat Moz and take the deed to the apartment complex, where the hero will be rewarded with a free rooftop suite.

Outside of the Garrisons or Class Order Hall, this is the first time World of Warcraft provided players with such a personal living space. According to Wowhead's screenshots of the apartment, the charmingly shabby look or location of the room can't be changed, meaning fans are stuck with a view of the city blocked by a comically large waste pipe. However, the room has a unique innkeeper that allows characters to set the suite as a home point for quick access via Hearthstone teleports.
Few details are known about how the actual player case will work World of Warcraft still, but fans can expect the system to be significantly more robust than this Undermine apartment. The full feature will arrive Midnightwhich is currently expected to arrive in early 2026. An updated plan for World of Warcraft in 2025, the expansion is slated to be revealed in the summer, with player accommodation set to arrive before the end of the year, so the real details will likely start coming soon. Until then, fans can hang out in their new rooftop suite right now on the Patch 11.1 Public Test Realm and officially after Undermined releases, probably around February 25th.
