Wukong officially Cracked Pirates

Although nearly two years have passed since the release of Chinese developer Game Science's debut console and PC title Black Myth: Wukong, the game has never left the minds of video game pirates.

That's because, thanks to its DRM tamper protection, Denuvo quickly became one of the most sought after titles by pirates hoping to one day lose their badge and be able to crack it through nefarious means. Unfortunately for them, that day is yet to come.

Instead, voices38, a leading member of the hacking community and one whose advanced methods were able to crack Denuvo locked games, announced that they had successfully cracked Black Myth: Wukong, fulfilling one of the hacking community's biggest wishes.

“THE DAY HAS FINALLY COME! FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR VOTES38!” posted by a user in the r/CrackWatch subsection.

There are no uncracked Denuvo games left

Thanks to the Hypervisor method, the rest of the list was completed.

With Black Myth: Wukong and his Journey to the Underworld officially cracked, it joins Doom: The Dark Ages and Resident Evil Requiem as the 2024, 2025, and 2026 titles that have Denuvo and manage to crack it, all with the help of 38 voices.

Although each of these titles was leaked using the Hypervisor method, an increasingly popular solution that sacrifices some security in exchange for playing pirated software, the crack by voices38 represents a real breakthrough for the title.

Black Myth: Wukong was previously technically broken

For pirates, the wait was all the more difficult because Black Myth: Wukong was already technically cracked. However, its files were never put online, leaving pirates on the fringes of success.

In October, Maurice Heumann, the person who did extensive research on Denuvo's anti-piracy technology, revealed that they had managed to crack Black Myth: Wukong themselves and shared the evidence on social media.

However, the game has not been released online, with the researcher citing security and privacy as reasons for not releasing the full files, among other things. However, they shared the tools they used along with the research they completed on Denuvo.

Unlike Heumann, the biggest players in the piracy scene do not operate under their real name or any identifying information.

That still didn't stop the pirates from getting upset, though they quickly moved on. Now they can play the game as they see fit.
