One of the perks of playing Pokemon Legends: ZA in almost 700 hours I already have all the good Pokemon available Pokemon Championsand I also have most of them as glossy. Which doesn't make them more powerful or anything, but if I can create a whole shiny team that also performs well, then I'm even happier. One of my favorite Pokemon from the Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Legends: ZAThe DLC was Mega Meowstic, both because his boss fight was very frustrating and because his design is perfect in my opinion. In addition, I adore cats and have three of my own. So naturally I was very excited about it Pokemon Champions.
The entire building to Pokemon ChampionsThe release was something I was very happy with as some new abilities were gradually revealed to build up the hype. Once the three starters from Pokemon Legends: ZA officially got their abilities, but there was a sudden shift in expectations – the two Megas, Feraligatr and Meganium, got a nice and powerful ability, but Mega Emboar didn't. Some fans started to worry that their favorite Megas would get bad abilities, and unfortunately, that was the case with a few of them, including Mega Meowstic. It does have a redeeming quality though.

Mega Meowstic Pokémon Champions has an ace up its sleeve
One of the most common theories I have ever seen Pokemon ChampionsThe release was that Mega Meowstic would get Psychic Surge. This ability is very powerful as it allows the user to summon Psychic Terrain upon entering the field, instantly allowing themselves or their partner in double-battle teams to Pokemon Champions click Expanding Force to deal a ridiculous amount of damage.

However, this is most likely the exact reason why Psychic Surge wasn't assigned to Mega Meowstic, to the point that Pokemon Champions it doesn't include Indeedee and Rillaboom, perhaps to avoid terrain-affecting Pokémon for a while. Instead, Mega Meowstic got Trace, which is very mediocre at best. What it does is copy the opponent's ability in single battles and one of the enemy Pokemon's abilities in doubles. Basically, it's very unreliable and sometimes downright useless, which is the same problem that Mega Alakazam has had for ten years.
Mega Meowstic was immediately written off as useless, and while I don't blame anyone, given his stats and terrible abilities, he can be quite a bit better than Mega Alakazam. This is due to several reasons:
-
Meowstic gets access to Fake Out, which is a very good priority move to make the opponent back off in the first turn and lose some action.
-
Base Meowstic can have Competitive as its ability, which completely counters Incineroar Pokemon Championslike other Intimidate users, as it increases a Pokemon's special attack stat by two stages when one of its stats is lowered.
-
Meowstic can still set up Psychic Terrain to then go for hard spreading power, or he can let his partner do it instead.
-
A very strong Hisuan Pokemon that can be paired with Meowstic is Wyrdeer because it has Intimidate and Skill Swap. This means that Wyrdeer not only lowers the opponents attack stat when it enters the field, but it can also use Skill Swap on the first turn to Intimidate the enemy Pokemon and rob it of a useful ability, all while letting Meowstic's Competitive proc.
-
Then, after using Protect or Fake Out on the first turn and Wyrdeer's Skill Swap on the same turn, Meowstic can Mega Evolve and enjoy a two-phase special attack that will carry it throughout the game.
Why Wyrdeer Works in Pokémon Champions' Meta
Giving an enemy Pokemon Intimidate is very powerful for pets with Competitive or Defiant, and it can be even better when Incineroar usage is down. Pokemon Champions due to Milotic's rise in the meta. Between Milotic and Kingambit, Intimidate can fail a bit if used on Wyrdeer, but it can give Mega Meowstic the edge it needs.
In addition, some of the most used Pokemon in Pokemon Champions they are physical attackers, so Intimidate Wyrdeer also acts as an insurance to give Meowstic more stamina against the likes of Sneasler and Basculegion. Wyrdeer using Skill Swap on Kingambit can also be very good, despite the initial 1-rank boost he can get with Defiant, because then Wyrdeer gets Defiant to slot on Intimidate, and the newly acquired Kingambit Intimidate handles both Meowstic's Competitive and Wyrdeer's Defiant.
Then Skill Swap can be used to remove Unburden from Sneasler to make it slower, it can be used to remove Adaptability from Basculegion to reduce its damage output, it can be used to control the weather by getting Drizzle or Drought for example, and it can be used to steal Archaludon's Stamina. There are many uses for this combo and it makes Mega Meowstic quite powerful, which I am very grateful for.
It may not be the best Pokemon Pokemon Championsbut Mega Meowstic can hold its own if used correctly. Additionally, it's worth noting that he can Trace Intimidate once Wyrdeer passes it to an opponent with Skill Swap, further reducing the damage of any physical attacker. If you haven't tried this strategy yet, I recommend doing so. At worst it's a fun combo to pull off, but it can also win you some games.
