Given WWE's recent batch of releases, it's only natural AEW fans began speculating about who the company might pick up once the non-compete expires. Fans and wrestlers alike seem opposed to the idea of picking up Alestair Black after his previous stint with the company, as there has been no shortage of rumors of him refusing to push other stars. On the other hand, there is a lot of interest in Kairi Sane to add more power to the women's division in Toni Storm's absence, while tag team wrestling fans are eager to potentially see the Motor City Machine Guns and New Day in some dream matches. It's the latter group that's particularly exciting for gamers, as Xavier Woods, AKA Austin Creed, could help secure the company's next video game.
(former, in kayfabe) AEW EVPs The Young Bucks fueled rumors of some big Tag Team signings in the near future by retweeting an old post about “changing the world” shortly after news of The New Day leaving WWE.
Whether it's Up Up Down Down or his infamous loss to Kenny Omega in fighting games, Creed is as much a fixture of the gaming scene as he is a beloved wrestler. AEW has no shortage of players, whether it's Ricochet, Adam Cole, or The Cleaner himself, but few have the connection that Creed has. It's not unreasonable that Kenny Omega and others behind the scenes are pushing for a new AEW video game, especially after Fight Forever received such a mixed response. So if Creed does indeed land a contract with the company, his association with this potential push could be the straw that breaks the camel's back, winning over AEW fans with another match that hopefully captures the magnitude of the company's stars and matches.

There's no better time to announce a WWE 2K competitor than right now
With AEW still waiting for news on its next game, this period after one of its biggest events might be the right time to make a move.
Why the next AEW video game is a must
Austin Creed is campaigning for a new AEW video game that can serve as a proper alternative to WWE 2K series would be a huge win because it's no secret that Fight forever was a little disappointing. Its problems include but are not limited to:
-
Lack of polish, no commentary, painfully short intros and outdated visuals.
-
Extremely limited character creator with no ability to download designs from other players.
-
The lack of match types and game modes – specifically no GM mode served as a major disappointment.
-
Expensive DLC packs featuring integral members of the AEW roster.

AEW has been booming in recent years, with incredible signings like Will Ospreay, Kazuchika Okada, Mercedes Mone, Thekla and more, all completely unavailable in Fight forever. That, in addition to significant gimmick changes for wrestlers like Toni Storm, fast-rising stars like Kyle Fletcher, and a slew of new championships and PPVs makes AEW's current game feel painfully dated. While there's something to be said for annual sports games that change too little and are essentially cash grabs, 3-year gaps are too much for a fast-growing wrestling company. A bi-annual release would be healthier once a viable format is found, but for that to happen, one has to start over.
Although there's nothing wrong with AEW trying to keep it old school Fight forever stand out from the simulator WWE 2K franchise will hopefully modernize in other ways. With excellent commentators like Excalibur, Taz, Nigel McGuinness and now Bryan Danielson, there is no reason why there shouldn't be some commentary on the matches. Similarly, with how integral character creators and GM modes are to the wrestling game genre, both of these mechanics would be a must. If these important boxes are checked, as well as some other improvements such as better visuals and improved inputs, Fight forever's successor could be a drastic improvement.
The New Day would be the tip of the iceberg for AEW's next roster
Megan Bayne. Willow nightingale. Speedball Mike Bailey. Bandido. Brody King. Konosuke Takeshita. The Hurt Syndicate. So many accessories of the current AEW product are not available Fight foreverwhile characters who have long since crossed over to WWE such as CM Punk, Cody Rhodes and Danhausen are platformed. In conjunction with missing or limited features Fight forever he looks older than he really is. If Austin Creed and Kofi Kingston make it to AEW, hopefully his love of video games will make him push for a new game with a properly built roster and a more modern feel. With AEW thriving, now is the perfect time to give video games another shot.
