All confirmed for The New Overwatch: Classic Event

Overwatch: Classic will be an event that will run from tomorrow, November 12th to December 2nd, and will allow players to see how far the franchise has come. This event will not be a standalone game, but rather an event available through the event center and main menu arcade. Although the event will not perfectly copy the original Overwatchwhile details like the user interface and map design remain in their current incarnations, it will however host a large set of changes that will recreate this classic experience.

Patch 1.0 Heroes, Abilities, Maps and Modes

According to the official Overwatch 2 instead, the first Overwatch: Classic event (as more may be in the works, depending on fan response) will bring players back to patch 1.0. By showing the game as it was in May 2016, players will have access to the original 21 heroes in this event, which is 20 less than the game has now. Heroes' Ultimates will charge faster when used in this event (just like in the original Overwatch) and their health stocks, damage outputs, and ammo sizes will return to their original state Overwatch 2Season 9 update.

Heroes will also return to their original gear (for example, Bastion's gear is almost completely different, reflecting her previous role as a defensive hero).

Additionally, for the first few days of the event, there will be a No Hero Limits rule – meaning teams are not limited to one of each hero. This will only last for a few days, the number of which is yet to be revealed, and the rest of the time the hero limits will be restored. Players will also be limited to the original default skins for each hero.

In addition, this mode will only contain certain Overwatch maps divided into four modes (Assault, Escort, Hybrid and Control). Included maps will appear unchanged from how they are presented Overwatch 2. Those that made the cut, of which there are 12, include:

  • Hanamura
  • Temple of Anubis
  • Volskaya Industries
  • Ilios
  • Lijiang Tower
  • Nepal
  • Dolphins
  • Route 66
  • Viewpoint: Gibraltar
  • Hollywood
  • Royal line
  • Numbani

6v6 teams in Overwatch: Classic

The 6v6 game was a hot topic Overwatch 2 since the sequel replaced the original game and introduced a 5v5 format. The debate over which form of the game is better remains split down the middle, as it has been for years. Fortunately for fans of the classics Overwatch6v6 teams will participate in this nostalgic event.

Return to the 6v6 format Overwatch 2 was on the table for some time now, but the game's official page detailing the event confirms that it's not the format's swan song. Season 14, which launches on December 10th, will see the introduction of 6v6 challenges. Test modes for 6v6 will begin on December 17th and will help Blizzard gauge fan interest. On the other hand, Overwatch: Classic is just bringing back the 6v6 format to recapture the original gameplay loop Overwatch in 2016 – as opposed to being a definitive response to fan demand.
