In its first 24 hours on Steam, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered was hit with over 100 negative reviews, most of which shared their anger at PlayStation's login requirements, which should come as no surprise at this point.
In addition to the account requirement, players cited occasional crashing issues and the need for an internet connection despite being a single-player game as reasons for their negative reviews.
One comment suggested that “Mandatory account linking has no place in a single-player game,” in their review, making it one of the most popular ratings on the platform.
Despite this, however, Steam says the game has around 61 percent positive reviews, with the game's graphical overhaul being the main source of joy.
Despite dozens of negative reviews, the launch of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is far from the most controversial PlayStation x Steam crossover this year. The PC port of Ghost of Tsushima was pulled from Steam in countries that don't have access to PSN, with the Valve-owned platform forced to refund those affected, and the launch of Helldivers 2 was stymied by Arrowhead and Sony going through the motions. leading to a review bombardment and calls for refunds from the game's then-thriving player base.
Horizon Zero Dawn has received a remaster. The PS4 game's visuals have been reworked for the PS5, and ten hours of dialogue have been re-recorded to bring the first Horizon game up to the same standards as Forbidden West.
