How to unlock fast travel in Windrose

Windrose they don't believe in short commutes. One minute you're learning the basics on a beginner's beach and the next you're staring at a map full of islands that are all a little too far away. Sailing all over the place has its charm at first, but it doesn't take long before you start to wonder if there's a faster way to get around without spending half your gaming session on open water.

The good news: there is, but it's not something the game gives you right away. You'll need to explore and unlock a few things before the ocean starts to seem a lot smaller. Here's how fast travel works in Windrose and how you can set it up yourself.

How to unlock and use fast travel

Fast travel is available during the first main quest “How My Coastal Adventure Began” after you learn how molten copper ingots. At this point, you'll unlock the Fast Travel Bell, which is the item used to build the system.

You can get a Fast travel bell be the one find or create. One of the first ways is through a Smuggler's Cache near your starting beach. It is hidden underground behind the rubble and once you clean it and defeat the enemy withinyou can open the chest that contains the Bell and unlock the recipe. You can also find Bells in chests around wrecks when exploring.

If you're crafting it instead, you'll need 10 copper ingots and 3 ropes, crafted on the workbench using copper ore (found in caves) and plant fiber.

The bell is not used separately. It is located to the point of fast travelwhich you build via construction menu (by pressing 'B'). Every fast travel point costs 20 wood and one Fast Travel Belland must be located near water such as a shoreline or wharf.

To use fast travel, you need na at least two fast waypoints set in different locations. Once you have them, you can freely travel between them.

If you're on your ship, you can also open the map and instantly travel to any unlocked point, as long as you're not in combat or being chased.
