Atlus mentioned Personality 6 after years of silence, dismissing the much-anticipated game in a recent poll. The questionnaire also offers the possibility of several other games that have not yet been announced, although it calls them less certain than Personality 6.
Personality 6 it was first confirmed to be in development in July 2021 through several job ads posted on the Japanese website Green. The listings included a quote from Atlus executive producer Naoto Hiraoka referencing the project, saying that the company's hiring was driven in part by an ambition to outdo the latest mainline entry. “Exceeding [Persona] 5 will be difficult with the current cast,” Hiraoka was quoted as saying. The note did not clarify whether the sequel was already in pre-production at the time.
Atlus is asking fans if they're excited for Persona 6
More than four years later, the Sega subsidiary launched Personality 6 again. This time the mention was even more random as it was spotted in a survey sent to Japanese owners Persona 3 Reload The Switch 2 version that came out on October 23rd. One question in particular may interest fans: number 29 asks respondents to choose one or more Persona titles they look forward to in the future. Personality 6 is next to the choices Persona 4 Revival and upgraded versions of the first two main items.
The question uses the phrase 电影さんます (kitai suru koto), which is a nominalized expression that refers to the act of expecting or anticipating and is commonly translated as “to expect” in English. This wording does not confirm that all games listed are in development and guaranteed to be released; rather, it essentially asks respondents which titles they hope to see in the future. From Persona 4 Revival has already been announced and Personality 6 has also been confirmed to exist, this uncertainty only concerns potential remakes or remasters of the first two entries.
When could Persona 6 finally be announced?
Another big opportunity for Atlus and Sega to announce Personality 6 could be The Game Awards 2025 in December, assuming they don't opt for a standalone event. However, this option remains open, e.g Person 5 was originally revealed during a dedicated live stream on Japanese video platform Niconico in November 2013.
Much like the last few big budget games from Atlus, Personality 6 it is expected to launch on multiple platforms. Although Persona 3 Reload was the first addition to Xbox Game Pass and Persona 4 Revival is confirmed to be the same, it's unlikely that Sega would extend a similar arrangement to a new entry in the main line without significantly greater financial incentives.
