The ROG Xbox Ally may not be an Xbox per se, but foaming at the seams with Microsoft's own Windows operating system, it's close enough that it's incredible to watch people run a PlayStation exclusive on something like Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
YouTuber Deck Wizard, who focuses on all things handheld gaming, has posted a clip of the sequel to the Insomniac hit running on the console, and it does surprisingly well – although for $1,000 you'd hope for a smooth experience. You could buy a PS5 for that kind of money aa Steam Deck and just use Remote Play.
They even ran Bloodborne through an emulator.
Still, it's a nice addition to ROG's extensive Xbox Ally library, which is possible because, like many other handhelds that have appeared in the post-Steam Deck world, the new hardware from Microsoft and Asus is essentially a gaming PC wrapped in a Switch package. The new interface even lets you run games from different stores in its unified library, meaning all PlayStation exclusives released on Steam are easily accessible from within the OS itself.

While Xbox Ally isn't a first-party handheld — which Microsoft reportedly abandoned plans for after seeing Steam Deck sales — it sets an interesting precedent. If there is a next generation of Xbox consoles and they are PC hybrids, as reports would suggest, then they would likely be able to take advantage of the same library of PlayStation exclusives.
Although opinion is a bit divided. Windows Central executive editor Jez Corden suggested earlier this year that PlayStation could block its games from running on such a console and block its games from running on its own Xbox OS. However, Verge reporter Tom Warren claimed that this might not be possible: “I'm super curious how Sony can force Valve to block games on Steam”.
Sony has decided not to block its games from ROG Xbox Ally, if such a move is even possible, so it's increasingly looking like Warren is right and that the next-gen Xbox could take advantage of the wealth of exclusives that have been released on PC in recent years.
