Every now and then a video game comes along that is so bad you have to see it, or in this case play it, to believe it. Last year it was MindsEye, a video game that's still making headlines nearly a year after its launch. This year it might be a tie between Code Violet and Samson: A Tyndalston Story.
The latter was released just 10 days ago, while the former grabbed headlines in early February as one of the worst PlayStation titles to ever grace the digital store.
Samson is the third worst reviewed game on Metacritic this year, boasting an abysmal 50. It's bad, but not nearly as bad as Tokyo Scramble (39 on Metacritic) and Code Violet (29 on Metacritic).
If more video game remakes are on the horizon, it's time to start remaking bad games
The good games were already fun. Now it's time for the bad games.
Still, it's not a particularly good game. However, it will come to consoles at some point, which is either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on who you ask.
You can try Samson: A Tyndalston Story for yourself soon
In a new update shared on Steam, the only place where the title is currently available to play, developer Liquid Swords shared the roadmap and overarching plan for their title, including the announcement that it will be migrated to consoles.
“Finally, we know many of you have been asking about the console release. While we're not ready to reveal a specific date yet, we can confirm that Samson is slated to launch on consoles this fall,” the post read in part. “Thanks for being with us! We're excited to keep improving the experience together.”
“We also want to thank you for playing Samson and taking the time to give us such thoughtful feedback about your experience!”
The scheduled window is “Fall”, so probably anytime between late September and November if we were to bet on a guess. Until then, the game will receive at least six major updates that should make the game smoother to play as well as respond to community feedback. There will also be two content updates, one focusing on combat and the other on vehicles.
“Console” is very vague, and IGN decided to ask a representative if the Nintendo Switch 2, where Unreal Engine 5 titles didn't show up, would be included, along with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A representative “couldn't confirm which consoles it does or doesn't include now,” IGN wrote.
If playing bad games is fun, then you'll get your fill pretty soon. For now, might we be interested in Code Violet or Tokyo Scramble? Or what about MindsEye? Or even… Gollum.
