PlayStation slightly lifted the veil on her next project and confirmed that the game division of the Bad Robot production company founded by JJ Abrams and Left 4 Dead creator Mike Booth together to create an exclusive game. There is still a heavy shroud of mystery surrounding this new PlayStation title, but it seems that Sony is pretty excited about the newly announced team.
After working for Valve for several years, Mike Booth eventually left the company to join Blizzard, who then introduced him to Bad Robot. This is not the first time that the news of Bad Robot and Mike Booth's partnership has surfaced. In 2018, JJ Abrams confirmed that Bad Robot would venture into video games. Fast forward to late 2020 and Mike Booth is confirmed as Chief Creative Officer of Bad Robot's gaming division. At the time, it was known that Booth's new role with Bad Robot would spawn a new game, but news about the project has been incredibly sparse over the years. At least until now.

Sony released an official statement regarding the partnership announcement, but there were very few details about the game itself. Other than confirming that it will be a four-player co-op shooter, there's not much to say; not even a title. However, the most interesting information is that the game will be a new IP. While some may have hoped for something related to Booth's Left 4 Dead or Bad Robot's past work, like Cloverfield, Star Trekor Rulerlooks like that won't be the case. However, the promise of something completely new waiting on the horizon is just as interesting. In an official statement, all Sony said regarding the more substantial announcement was, “More details about the game will be shared at a later date.” Now the big question is when exactly that date will be.

It may be a while before more news is shared about the Booth-led project. However, with The Game Awards right around the corner, this announcement could potentially plant the seeds for a bigger reveal at the event. With rumors and leaks suggesting that the PS6 could arrive in 2027, Sony confirming that the Bad Robot project is specifically for the PS5 could signal that the game will be ready within a year or two. Booth has been in the Bad Robot game division for a few years now, but that doesn't mean the game has been in development that long. A co-op title could very well be in its infancy, so only time will tell how long it will be before Sony reveals what Bad Robot and Mike Booth are up to.
