Far Cry 7 audio reportedly leaked

It's been almost five years since the release of Far Cry 6 and so far all we know about Far Cry 7 are various rumors, leaks and reports. It's an open secret that Far Cry 7 is being developed at Ubisoft, but when we'll see the game is anyone's guess.

We can add one more leak to the list, as leaker Ubisoft Rogue has taken to social media to share a minute-long clip of what he claims is audio from Far Cry 7.

Set against a vast mountainous backdrop, the clip is filled with the sounds of a clock ticking. The ticking and music increase in intensity over the course of a minute before the clip fades out for good.

The modern video landscape wouldn't be the same without Far Cry 3

It's been more than a decade since Ubisoft's open-world blockbuster changed video games forever.

If the audio is indeed real, then it seems to confirm a long-standing rumor that Far Cry 7 will have a time-related twist that will frustrate fans who want to play the game at their own pace.

Far Cry 7 will seemingly be a different kind of Far Cry title

In 2023, it was first announced that Far Cry 7 would have a time mechanic that would require players to beat the game within 24 hours in real time. Rumors suggested that the game's main story will center around a family that must be rescued within a certain time limit.

In a safe house, the clock would supposedly pause, but would otherwise tick off every other activity. 24 hours in real life would equal 72 hours in the game. At the time, rumors suggested that Cillian Murphy would have a role in the game, although this was later revealed.

Far Cry 7 “discarded versions” leaked online last year, including a report on the extraction mode and Alaska setting. However, it is not clear what elements of the leaks were scrapped. Recently, Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson claimed that Far Cry 7 development is “going through hell and back”.

In the end, there is enough to suggest that Far Cry 7 will be different from previous entries. How else will it turn out when it is finally revealed.
